Every year the Northumberland Mumpreneurs select a charity to fundraise for. This year, we selected
The Sick Children's Trust who run
Crawford and
Scott House in Newcastle's Freeman and RVI hospitals. The aim of these houses is to keep families together when their child is seriously ill and in hospital by providing free of charge 'home from home' accommodation in their 'hospital houses'.
In May, The Sick Children's Trust asked fundraisers to host a Big Chocolate Tea Party. Gemma set about organising the event straight away which was supported by many of the mumpreneur members.
We held our party on 28th May at Beaconhill Community Centre in Cramlington which was a perfect venue. Some of the mumpreneurs had stalls -
Mellie Green Organics,
Gemma's Sensational Wraps,
Aloe Amazing and
Kelly's Cakes amongst others. Gemma and Angela were kept busy serving everyone tea and coffee and we had a visit from our original mentor Gillian from business Northumberland which was lovely (and thanks for helping with the raffle tickets).
Entertainment was provided by Stacey from
Much Loving Touch who took all the children on a bear hunt and Lesley and Pam from
Doodle Bugs who provided very popular face and pottery painting.
A special thank you has to go to some of the entrepreneurs of the future - the mumpreneur children who successfully organised a tombola and minion skittle stall. Well done! You definitely deserve to share this fabulous chocolate train kindly donated by Susannah from
Mylia.
In the end we raised £155.50 for the Sick Children's Trust which is enough to provide a 'home from home' room in hospital for a whole family for 5 nights. Amazing! Well done to everyone who supported the event - special thanks to Gemma (
G A Bookkeeping) and Rebecca (
Art by Rebecca Vose) for all of your hard work, planning and ideas!
